Introduction

Grandpa Marvin’s Blog

April 10, 2007
Hello Friends,
Well this is the first entry into Grandpa Marvin’s Blog. So let me tell you a little bit about myself. I’m 69 years old and semi-retired. My wife and I live in Southern California. She’s a retired school teacher.
Semi-retirement means I reduced my day job to 3 days a week. That sort of makes the work week shorter than the weekend. I have been doing my work for about 40 years and enjoy it too much to give it up completely, at least as long as I am lucid.
My son and daughter-in-law live in the city not too far from us. My daughter and son-in-law live in the desert. They have the cutest twin 2 year old children, a boy and a girl. My daughter went back to work this past year. So my wife and I baby sit the other 2 days of what used to be my work week. It gives Rose and me a great opportunity to bond with the grandchildren, and for the grandchildren, 2 days a week with Grandma and Grandpa beats daycare. On the other hand, it’s hard on my daughter. Being a working Mom is no picnic.
Finally, I plan to make new entries into my Blog from time to time on various subjects, like for example, Why I Believe in God, The Great Challenges Facing Humanity, and other rantings of a guy on the threshold of old age. So please visit my blog again.
